Aged 18 years and I am Married.
I grew up in a family where my father believed that educating a girl child is the wastage of money and time, he never wanted girls to attend school. My mother could sell fruits, vegetables and also dig in other people’s farms so that she can get Money to send me to school, but whenever I could come back from school my father would say harsh words to me and my mother. I used to attend school in a government school because that’s the only school that my mother could afford and we were paying less money. Some times I could miss school and move with my mother to the markets to sell fruits and to also work in people’s farms to earn a living and to also get money to keep sending me to school, I continued struggling to attain education in that situation until I reached primary six(P6) and my mother asked me to drop out school because she couldn’t manage paying my school fees anymore. Life after dropping out of school became so hard , my father had all the chances now to keep telling me to go for marriage, I stayed home with both my parents and my younger siblings helping my parents in the farm and continued going to the markets selling fruits and vegetables, my father was the alcoholic he could come home drunk and say a lot of abusive words to me and my mother, after some months i had to run away from home and went to stay with some of my relatives but still life wasn’t easy, they insulted me a lot so I decided to come back home but my father was very tough and insisted on me to get married. At the age of 17 years I got my husband and decided to get married, I have been married for 1 year now and I don’t have anything that I am earning from. My husband told me about the organisation that is teaching women skills and he told me how women that organisation are acquiring that are helping them and he encouraged me to join it. I am happy now that I joined RAISING A GIRL TO THE WORLD because it feels like a school to me, I am learning skills, I can now weave baskets and sew clothes and still learning more because I have been in this organization for 4 months now and am so thankful to everyone that has supported us

Aged 23 years, I am a single mother of 1 child. I stopped school in 2019 due to lack of school fees at the age of 18 years. COVID 19 came in and I happened to get pregnant during that holiday.
I have been struggling with life until I joined RAISING A GIRL TO THE WORLD ORGANIZATION which has helped me to acquire skills like sewing, weaving baskets, making door mats. At least I can now sew clothes and weave baskets, I still hope that I am going to learn other more skills which will be useful to me. The challenge I face is the lack of materials to use while learning, less sewing machines which makes us learn in shifts. I believe for a life change through this organization.
My dream is to learn all the skills so that I can be able to look after my daughter and myself.

I am 22 years old and a mother of 2 children.
I am a single mother living all by myself together with my two children. I got pregnant when I was 15 years old and I was still schooling, when my parents heard about it, chased me out of home, I had no option but to go and find the boy that made me pregnant, he was also young but he had dropped out of school. we rented a small single room and started living together, during my pregnancy I could go dig in other people’s farms for money also wash my neighbors clothes for money to feed us and saving money for hospital. My husband and I were too young to keep together, he later ran away from me and I stayed alone struggling to figure out life. I gave birth to my daughter and life became worse, 4 years later I decided to give love another chance, the same thing happened to me again, the second husband wasn’t from my area, he went home and didn’t return to us, he left me pregnant and I now have a son of 2 years who doesn’t know the father.
I have both my parents but they don’t care about me, they see me as a shame and disgrace to the family. I stay with my 2 children in our small rented place, I work for others to sell their goods more especially on market days to get money to sustain us. I decided to join Raising a girl to the world so that I can have some skills that will help me fight poverty. I am so much interested in sewing, we study in shifts because our place is small but we hope to get a larger place. I appreciate everyone that has supported us and still supporting us through this journey of changing our lives.

I am 16 years old. I grew up with my grandmother living and staying in a very poor condition. I don’t know my father, my mother left me with my grandmother when I was 8 months, Grandmother did all her best to send me to school and I was able to complete primary Seven (P.7) in 2023 which is last year. Which was not an easy journey because grandmother and I used to work for my school fees from the neighbor’s farms so that I can attend school.
After my primary Seven (P.7) my grandmother was already aging and no longer strong enough to work for money so that I can continue with my studies and due to such poor condition I was forced to drop out of school because my grandmother is now weak and can’t work anymore in people’s farms.
After dropping out of school I continued working in other people’s farms so that I can also be able to look after my grandmother and to get us food. A friend of mine told me about the Organization that is empowering women and young girls that have dropped out of schools (RAISING A GIRL TO THE WORLD, Inc) I was so happy and told my grandmother about it, the following day she walked with me to the organization and we met Moureen told her my story and she accepted me in the organization I am so happy to be part of it because at least I am still getting the education through skills and I have so far learnt sewing, weaving baskets and beading. I appreciate everyone that has supported us in all the ways may God bless you all for us.

I am 55 years old, a mother and a grandmother.
I am a widow, I lost my husband 4 years back, ever since I lost my husband, life has never been the same. I gave birth to 15 children and we were not able to educate them due to poverty, most of my daughters went into early marriages and later marriages failed. I am right now living with my 14 grandchildren that I have to look after, some of them are in schools( primary level ) and others are not in school because of
lack of school fees.
I am old and aging each day, I don’t have enough energy to work in other people’s farms for money, most of my sons do brick laying and my daughters work as house maids also in people’s farms to be able to look after their children.but it’s still not enough. I find it hard to feed my 14 grandchildren. I do farming to get food but I am losing energy each day because of my age.
All I wish for my grandkids is to see them educated and at least be able to sustain themselves in future, I joined raising a girl to the world last year and it is helping me in so many ways, my mental health, sometimes i feel so low and through interacting with the women and spending time with them makes me feel calm and brings me back to life. I have so far learnt how to weave local baskets and plastic baskets, beading and I am looking forward to learning more.
I appreciate our dear beloved Theresa Mulconry for the good heart and for the good things you have done and still doing. We appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts

I am 20 years old and a mother to one girl
I grew up in a family where my father never believed in educating a girl child, he says educating a girl child is a waste of money and time. I loved going to school but my father never supported it. My mother sent me to school and my father said he was never going to pay any single school fees for me. I am from a remote area and it’s not easy to access a school close to my home. I used to walk for hours to reach my school and to return back to my home. My mother did her best but I could miss school because of school fees.
One day when I was coming back from school late in the evening because of the long distance from my school to home I got raped by a strange man, I got scared and feared to tell both my parents, in few weeks i started feeling sick, mum took me to the hospital ans i was found pregnant and that’s how i dropped out of school. I don’t know the father of my child. My father became so harsh on me and I went to stay with my aunt together with my daughter. I thank my aunt so much for taking me to RAISING A GIRL TO THE WORLD because I am learning so many skills that are now helping me. I can now sew a dress for my daughter. We learn in shifts because our space is small and we are over 30 women. I thank whoever has supported us and those that have donated sewing machines to us . We are so grateful

I lost my father when I was 10 years old, we are a family of 6 children.
After the death of my father everything at home changed because our mother was only the house wife and it was only our father working, life became so hard for us. Our mother did her best to educate us but due to lack of school fees we all dropped out of schools. I tried to study but I ended in S3 where I decided to go get married but life in marriage also isn’t easy, I have to work in people’s farms to support my family, I can’t find a better job because I am not qualified. A friend of mine and also a neighbor Judith who is also a member of RAISING A GIRL TO THE WORLD introduced me to the organization and I am glad for the skills that I have learnt so far in this organization.we are learning in shifts because we don’t have a larger space but hope to get it soon. I appreciate moureen and Theresa for thinking about us we are so proud of you.
